Subaru Raises The Earth Friendly Automaker Bar
Subaru has stated that 99.8% of the materials from its Lafeyette, Ind. Plant will be reused or recycled in 2008. With a projected output of 180,000 cars this year, Subaru is confident that it can keep virtually all waste from the landfill. Besides the environmental impact, reusing materials will also save the company millions of dollars a year. Environmental conscious brands like Subaru are also more attractive to a growing population of earth minded consumers. Subaru has been successful reducing its waste in previous years thanks to a “dumpster dive” analysts of their waste and the help of suppliers. Subaru is leading the way in corporate waste reduction, a trend that thousands of other companies will be hopping on board with in the upcoming years in an effort to cut cost and appeal to consumers.
