Subaru Recalling Three Models For Brake Issue
Thinking of getting a 2012 Subaru Legacy, Outback or Impreza? Better make sure the brakes work. The Japanese auto maker is putting a temporary stop on all sales of these three vehicles due to technical problem.
A brake issue, thanks to a problem with the master cylinder, has caused the recall of 3000 2012 models already sold, and forces a halt on sales going forward until this problem is resolved. Subaru says brakes will still work, and so far no injuries have been reported.
“Some customers said the brakes didn’t feel right,” according to Subaru spokesperson Michael McHale. “The pedal travels farther than it should. There were no failure issues, no accidents.”
The faulty master cylinder comes from the production batch of an unnamed supplier, and most of these vehicles are constructed at Subaru’s facility in Indiana. If you have any of the 2012 models issued above, head to your local Subaru dealer. The repair/replacement process takes roughly one hour.
